Good Morning, Granny

Eliel Hsieh

Every morning, when the first ray of sunshine at every dawn came into her house, it’s time for her to leave for work, and say “Good Morning” to her grandmother. Granny has been afflicted by dementia, therefore, she’s always living in her memories and never response.

Yet, she continues to greet her grandma every day, not due to formality but to give back the love her grandma gave her. For the days that grandmother took care of her when she was little, substituting for her parents who died untimely.

One day, she had to leave for work before sunrise. When the house was lightened again, and sunlight shine upon granny’s face. Granny woke up and mumbled: “Good morning, my little girl.”
